I have some great information that might interest you, especially if you're spinning your wheels trying to achieve your health and fitness goals. I've been in the fitness industry for nearly 25 years and the training programs I see in the gyms across the US continue to amaze and perplex me. It seems that most people, trainers included, think they need to "train til they drop" in order to achieve their goals. The human body can get by with this during the teen years. However, the nervous system will literally shut down and cells will begin to die if this continues for a prolonged period of time. I often tell people that exercise is like a drug. If you give the wrong drug to someone you could kill them. Too much of the wrong exercise has similar effects. Not to mention this type of training will stop fat loss immediately and can actually cause weight gain. Here is a typical scenario. John goes to the gym to lose weight. John is a high level exec that is under a lot of stress. He also has high blood pressure and insomnia. Combine these issues with the typical exercise program and John may no longer be with us. Remember, the goal of a properly designed exercise program is to energize the body, not drain it. Proper assessment will determine where you should begin.
